APEX honours MHCC Board Chair for outstanding contribution to workplace mental health

Ottawa, ON – The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) congratulates Board Chair, the Honourable Michael Wilson, on being recognized by the Association of Professional Executives of the Public Service (APEX) for his commitment to improving psychological health and safety in the workplace.  Mr. Wilson, alongside Bill Wilkerson, Executive Chairman of Mental Health International, are co-recipients of the 2016 APEX Public Service Citation which will presented to them on May 31, 2016 at the APEX 2016 Symposium at Ottawa’s Shaw Centre.

“I am deeply humbled to have been honoured with the 2016 APEX Public Service Citation,” said the Hon. Michael Wilson. “I’m doubly proud to be sharing this recognition with my colleague and friend, Bill Wilkerson. Few issues are in more urgent need of attention than stress, mental health and harassment in the workplace.

The award recognizes individuals who have made laudable efforts to increase understanding between the Public Service and the Canadian public. Mr. Wilson and Mr. Wilkerson are being honoured for their ongoing commitment to mental health in the workplace through fostering improved clarity around mental health issues, as well as proposing practical solutions.

“Mr. Wilson and Mr. Wilkerson remain undoubted champions in their commitment to improve mental health in Canada,” said MHCC President and CEO, Louise Bradley. “I congratulate them both for this well-earned honour.”

Congratulations to all the 2016 APEX award recipients. For a full list of this year’s winners, please visit http://www.apex.gc.ca/en/about/awards-of-excellence/2016winners
