If you are in distress, you can call or text 988 at any time. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1 or go to your local emergency department.
Purpose The OM PATOS was developed as part of a larger project we completed in 2019. The scale is designed for those in the helping professions who respond to or care for people who are experiencing opioid use problems or are at risk of an overdose or poisoning: paramedics, fire or police services workers, and health-care, social-care, and allied-health providers. It can be used for a range of purposes, such as evaluating the impact of initiatives or programs designed to reduce stigma, measuring organizational stigma (as part of a needs assessment), raising awareness, and tracking or measuring performance. Scale validation Read our 2022 OM-PATOS validation study in the International Journal of Mental Health and Addiction. For more information, or for inquiries on possible scale adaptations, please contact us at mhccinfo@mentalhealthcommission.ca or email Dr. Stephanie Knaak from our research team at sknaak@mentalhealthcommission.ca.
