November 25, 2015 – Mental Health Commission to host National Forum for Social Businesses

Ottawa, ON – MHCC President and CEO Louise Bradley will be addressing the opening of Discovering Hidden Talent: A National Forum for Social Businesses Employing People with Mental Health Problems or Illnesses.

In attendance will be representatives of social businesses employing people with mental health problems or illnesses; social businesses employing people with other disabilities; policy makers; service providers; individuals with lived-experience of mental illness; and other people interested in the field.

Like conventional businesses, social businesses exchange goods and services in the marketplace, but they are organized to achieve social, as well as economic goals. In the mental health arena, this includes creating employment opportunities for the almost 90% of Canadians with mental health problems or illness who are unemployed.
