November 12, 2014 – MHCC Congratulates Calgary Police Service on Adoption of R2MR

Calgary, AB – The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is pleased to congratulate the Calgary Police Service on joining the Road to Mental Readiness (R2MR) partnership. This collaboration between the Department of National Defence, Alberta Health Services, the MHCC, and the Calgary Police Service marks the first time that a police service in Canada will use the program.

“This project is an excellent example of a very worthwhile and productive collaboration involving a number of levels of government, federal, provincial and municipal, through DND, AHS, CPS and the Commission,” said Ed Mantler, MHCC’s Vice President of Programs and Priorities. He added, “Police services and other law enforcement agencies across Canada are benefiting tremendously thanks to this partnership.”

Designed by Lt. Colonel Suzanne Bailey for the Department of National Defence, R2MR has been modified for the Calgary Police Service to provide mental health and resilience training to their members.
