FDIA is a rare and serious condition where a caregiver, usually a parent, causes or exaggerates symptoms of illness in someone they are caring for to gain attention, sympathy, or care from others. The caregiver might intentionally make the child sick or lie about their health to get medical attention. This behaviour is harmful and can put the child at risk of serious harm.
