PGD is a condition in which the intense and persistent feelings of grief do not diminish over time and significantly impair a person’s ability to function. It’s characterized by severe and prolonged mourning that disrupts daily life and well-being. Unlike normal grief, which typically lessens over time, PGD involves enduring and overwhelming grief that lasts for months or even years after a loss. Individuals with PGD experience persistent yearning or longing for the deceased, intense sorrow, and preoccupation with the loss. They may have trouble accepting the loss and continuing their daily life activities. (see also Grief)
