Dementia

Dementia is a term used to describe symptoms that affect a person’s memory, thinking, and ability to do everyday tasks. It is a condition that makes it hard to remember things, solve problems, and manage daily activities. People with dementia might forget recent events, have trouble recognizing familiar faces, or struggle with decision-making. It is usually a progressive condition, meaning it gets worse over time and is often characterized by: 

  • a decline in: 
  • memory 
  • planning 
  • language 
  • judgement 
  • physical changes, like: 
  • loss of coordination 
  • loss of bladder control 
  • weak and stiff muscles 
  • trouble standing, sitting or walking 
  • changes in mood and behaviour
