If you are in distress, you can call or text 988 at any time. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1 or go to your local emergency department.

Validation means recognizing and accepting someone’s feelings, thoughts, or experiences as real, understandable, and important. It doesn’t mean you have to agree with them — it simply means you acknowledge that what they’re going through matters. In mental health, validation can reduce shame, build trust, and make people feel more emotionally safe and supported. It’s a key part of therapy, relationships, and self-compassion.
