SC2.0 is a person-centred transformative model for delivering evidence-informed mental health and substance use health services, which provides diverse options to best meet people’s needs and preferences. The Mental Health Commission of Canada has been collaborating with Stepped Care Solutions since 2018 on mental health and substance use health system transformation based on the SC2.0 model.
The Mental Health Commission of Canada is a national not-for-profit organization and a registered charity, focused on improving the mental health outcomes of all people in Canada. This work includes improving access to quality mental health care.
Stepped Care Solutions is a national mission-driven not-for-profit organization and the creator of SC2.0. They work with organizations and communities to strengthen mental health and substance use health systems by improving access, flexibility, and outcomes. The successful collaboration between the Mental Health Commission of Canada and Stepped Care Solutions started through a demonstration project of this transformative model across Newfoundland and Labrador in 2018. Since then, the Mental Health Commission of Canada and Stepped Care Solutions have partnered to guide implementation efforts of SC2.0 in other provinces and territories, including the Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island, with strong relationships and impactful outcomes.
The Mental Health Commission of Canada celebrates the successful partnership with Stepped Care Solutions on SC2.0 system transformation. Both organizations are proud of the meaningful outcomes the initiative has achieved in the mental health sector, such as the reduction of wait times, increased efficiencies in the system, better provider and service user satisfaction, the development of an engaged collaborative of leaders across Canada, and shared learnings and initiatives based on SC2.0 in their jurisdictions.
