If you are in distress, you can call or text 988 at any time. If it is an emergency, call 9-1-1 or go to your local emergency department.
Description:
Mental health data systems remain patchy and incomplete. Some of the best data comes from physician billing systems, hospitals, and Statistics Canada’s community health surveys. But there are still many aspects of mental health and addiction (MHA) services that are not measured. And, we have yet to reach agreement on a framework needed to measure progress across a broad continuum of services.
To this end, we invite you to hear from Dr. Carol Adair on a way forward. She is the lead author of a new MHCC report, Resources for developing a mental health and addiction performance framework for Canada.
This webinar will give you an overview of the report. It will outline the steps needed to build a performance measurement framework that reflects broad MHA stakeholder needs and consensus that is grounded in provincial/territorial policy priorities. This performance framework seeks to complement CIHI’s five access indicators tied to the new Health Accord funding, as agreed upon by all provinces and territories. You will hear about our plan to bring together service providers, subject matter experts, health system representatives and people with lived experience to build this framework – eventually coalescing into the creation of a comprehensive performance measurement system that can track service and system improvements over time.
