Where Do I Begin?

Last week, half a million Canadians missed work because of a mental health problem or illness. Just as many Canadians will miss work next week.

Start where you already have influence or control:

  • Communicate and celebrate success
  • Approach senior leadership to walk the talk
  • Add mental health awareness to existing training
  • Start a focus group of managers/ supervisors
  • Review existing policy and practice
  • Create a team that represents each group
  • Support leaders to engage other stakeholders
  • Gather data to develop a baseline and trends

Guest Speakers: Linda Brogden, University of Waterloo and Mary Ann Baynton, Great-West Life Centre for Mental Health in the Workplace
